Hypnotherapy For Managing Gender Identity Issues
Have you ever felt like you weren’t in the right body? Or like you couldn’t fully embrace the gender you were brought up as? Maybe you feel like a woman trapped inside a man’s body (or vice versa)? Have you ever experienced ‘gendered expectations’ that didn’t fit with who you feel you truly are? Does your heart chime louder than your head when you think about how things might be different?
Whilst these feelings may be common, if left and not dealt with, they can result in psychological difficulties. These difficulties may manifest as depression, anxiety or self-harm, whereas opening up and talking to someone could help you avoid these feelings of loneliness, desperation and depression. These feelings could all be associated with not feeling like you were born in the right body (also known as gender dysmorphia). Hypnotherapy can help with feelings of identity, confidence, anxiety and can give you practical tools to help you move forward feeling confident that you are living the life you were meant to live.
You aren’t alone and support is available
What do I mean by ‘deal with’? Simply talking about these feelings can be a massive help. Knowing that you are not alone and that you ought to be able to express your sexuality or gender however you wish can really help. Sometimes we might find it difficult to talk to our friends or parents, or we may fear that they don’t understand what we’re trying to express. That doesn’t mean that your feelings are wrong, just that the other person might not be ready or able to deal with what you are trying to explain to them about your feelings and experiences of your own body at this time.
